A lot of people walk into Glisten Dental Mesa after being handed a treatment plan they couldn't afford and nobody would explain — over-diagnosed, quoted a number with no insurance to cushion it, or never feeling like the dentist across the chair actually cared. Here is what Dr. Dawood says to a nervous patient in the first minute, word for word, because nothing we'd write for her is better than this:
"I know you are nervous. It is normal to feel that way. No need to worry. Take some long deep breaths. I'll take care of you. We are not going to start anything until you are super comfortable and you don't feel a thing. Any time you need a break, just raise your hand and we can take a break. I like breaks too. So I don't mind breaks. We will go at your pace. We are in no rush."

The question we're asked more than any other is "Does it hurt?" — "¿Me va a doler?" So here is the straight answer, on the page, so you don't have to work up the nerve to call and ask: nothing starts until you are completely numb and comfortable, and we test the numbness first — before any treatment begins — so "numb" isn't a guess. If you feel anything, we stop. That's not a slogan; it's the rule the whole team works by, whether the conversation is in English or Spanish.

Dr. Revan Dawood founded Glisten Dental to build something the Arizona dental market was missing: a practice where quality care meets honest pricing, and where every patient gets the time and explanation they deserve. No assembly-line cleanings. No surprise bills. No pushing treatments patients don't need.
Today, Glisten Dental operates three locations across the Valley — Mesa, Gilbert, and Glendale. Each staffed with general dentists who share Dr. Dawood's philosophy.

Dr. Dawood earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University's College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, AZ. She is certified in Invisalign clear aligner therapy, dental implant placement and restoration, smile design, and minimal/moderate sedation. Originally from Detroit, she moved to Arizona in 2008 and founded Glisten Dental to build a practice that treats dentistry like a relationship, not a transaction.

The $89 new-patient exam is a real, comprehensive first visit — not a loss leader. It includes digital X-rays, a thorough exam with Dr. Dawood or an associate, a professional cleaning, and a written treatment plan with zero pressure. Plan on 60–75 minutes.
In-network with most major PPOs.
We accept and file insurance directly — Delta Dental of Arizona, Cigna, Aetna, BCBS of AZ, UnitedHealthcare, MetLife, Humana, Guardian, Ameritas, Principal, and more. Don't see your plan? Most PPOs still reimburse at rates that barely differ from in-network.
We also have an in-house specialist who helps patients sort through Medicare and Medicare Advantage dental options — and talking to him is free. For adults on AHCCCS, dental coverage is limited and often stops short of the work people actually need — we'll tell you exactly where your coverage ends and what a fair cash price looks like, before anything is scheduled.

For Mesa that includes patients with no dental insurance at all, and adults whose AHCCCS dental benefit runs out before the treatment does. You get a written estimate before treatment, every time. If something changes mid-procedure, we stop and talk to you before we continue. Financing is available, and we'll tell you honestly when the cheaper option is the right one — including when the honest answer is "you don't need this yet."
